Fortios Bone Mill
The Fortios Bone Mill is a safe and efficient solution for the production of cortico-cancellous bone chips. By combining the Spierings milling technology with a drive unit, we created a motorized bone mill that is easy to use and easy to clean. The Fortios Bone Mill is the perfect milling tool for tissue bank use. Some of its main features are:
- Bone grafts with intact trabecular structure
- Easy to use
- Easy to clean
- High quality construction
- Flexibility
Bone grafts with intact trabecular structure
To achieve high strength in bone reconstructions the trabecular structure of the graft bone must remain intact. Spierings Tissue Processing has applied its patented milling technology to the Fortios Bone Mill for optimal milling of cortico-cancellous bone. The teeth of the milling drums are spirally positioned and razor sharp, breaking off pieces of bone and leaving the trabecular structure intact.
Easy to use
The Fortios Bone Mill is intuitive to use as it only comprises a couple of parts: Drive Unit, Milling House, Push Block and Milling Drums. All the parts are made of medical grade stainless steel and are extremely durable.
Easy to clean
All parts that come in direct contact with bone can be detached from the Drive Unit and autoclaved to ensure optimal processing conditions.
High quality construction
The Fortios Bone Mill is unique because of its superior design and sturdy construction. The Fortios Bone Mill is made of stainless steel, making it an extremely solid device. The milling drums are made of a special hardened stainless steel alloy. Even in case of frequent use they do not show signs of wear. This combination guarantees a high quality graft without metal contamination.
Flexibility
Six different Milling Drums will be available for the Fortios Bone Mill. This allows its users to create bone chips ranging from 0.5 to 15 mm. These milling drums are currently available:
- Chip size: +/- 10 to 15 mm – Milling Drum Extra Coarse
- Chip size: +/- 8 to 10 mm – Milling Drum Coarse
- Chip size: +/- 5 to 8 mm – Milling Drum Fine
- Chip size: +/- 3 to 5 mm – Milling Drum Extra Fine
- Chip size: +/- 1 to 3 mm – Milling Drum Extra Extra Fine
- Chip size: +/- 0.5 to 1 mm – Milling Drum Extra Extra Extra Fine
The Fortios Bone Mill is developed and manufactured by Spierings Tissue Processing, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The standard operating kit of the Fortios Bone Mill consists of the following parts:
